About Begiristain cider house

The Etxeberria family of Legorreta have always made cider at the family farmhouse, but it was not until 1978 that they decided to open their doors to the public and make it their main activity. They produce a total of around 125,000 litres of cider, largely from their own orchard and nearby farmhouses.

The Begiristain family makes its own natural cider, which it distributes to bars and restaurants across the Basque Country (Euskadi) under the Aulia brand and also bottles under the Euskal Sagardoa Designation of Origin (DO).

As well as a cider house, it’s a cider maker: it makes its own cider, and what’s served at the table comes from its own cellar.

Quality labels

  • DO Euskal Sagardoa Designation of origin for natural Basque cider: only apples of local varieties grown in Álava, Bizkaia, Gipuzkoa and the French Basque Country. The seal goes on each bottle, not on the cider maker.
