About Otatza cider house
Set in the village of Zerain, on the way up to the Aizkorri range, it enjoys an enviable location. The owners opened it to the public in 1995 and it has been modernising steadily ever since: new machinery, upgraded facilities and so on. It has a very large apple orchard, so it supplies itself either from its own trees or with apples gathered from nearby farmhouses. It currently produces around 50,000 litres of cider a year.
Otatza makes its cider under the Euskal Sagardoa Designation of Origin (DO) with apples from its own farmhouse, where it has some two thousand apple trees, and sells it bottled all year round.

From tree to bottle
Otatza’s own house cider
As well as a cider house, it’s a cider maker: it makes its own cider, and what’s served at the table comes from its own cellar.

Quality labels
- DO Euskal Sagardoa Designation of origin for natural Basque cider: only apples of local varieties grown in Álava, Bizkaia, Gipuzkoa and the French Basque Country. The seal goes on each bottle, not on the cider maker.
