The Larraldea cider house in Lekaroz will reopen its doors to the public this Friday after more than a year.

This year marks 30 years since Larraldea first opened. A milestone anniversary that also brings changes to the cider house, as it has a new owner and will from now on be run by Eztibeltza Kooperatiba.

It was the first in the Basque Country to start producing organically, back in 1995, and it has made both organic and conventional cider ever since. For thirty years Jesús Ángel García has been the heart and soul of the cider house, and a few months ago he handed over the reins to Eztibeltza Kooperatiba, which will carry on the great work done by the Lekaroz man. The name comes from a Baztan apple variety, Eztibeltza, which forms a trio with Eztigorri and Eztixuri.
