Joy is back in Bizkaia’s cider houses. After the poor, scant apple harvest of 2022, which led to the cancellation of the traditional txotx last year, the season got under way yesterday, Tuesday, at the Uxarte cider house in Amorebieta.

With a production of 100,000 litres, actress and theatre director Itziar Lazkano was this year’s ambassador. Despite her packed schedule, the multifaceted actress could not turn down the invitation from Bizkaia’s cider makers. “It’s an honour for me and, even though I’m immersed in a project that takes up a lot of my time, I couldn’t say no to the proposal from Bizkaia’s cider makers. It’s very rewarding that they thought of me to be their ambassador,” said a grateful Itziar Lazkano, who also found time to encourage people to attend this Friday’s premiere at Pabellón 6 of the play she is directing, Días estupendos.
