Although a record harvest was expected, as 2023 was a good year for apples and the spring blossom had been spectacular, the start of picking coincided with very damp days, which spoiled part of the crop: between 20% and 40%, depending on the area.

Ideal conditions for a good cider house season
Basque cider houses have their kupelas (casks) ready to start a new season that has everything it needs to be a success. Although it has not reached the record figures of 2019, the harvest has been very plentiful, and cider makers are encouraging people to come and visit their cellars, but not only at Saturday lunchtime.
