Isastegi Sagardotegia in Tolosa has added another accolade to its trophy cabinet. The Gipuzkoa cider house has won the Gold Medal at Cider World Frankfurt, Europe’s most important international cider fair, scoring 109 out of a possible 120 points in the natural cider category.

“We’re delighted. It’s a very important seal of quality, and on top of that it comes from abroad,” says Aitor Izaguirre, of the Tolosa cider house, about an award that has given them the highest score of all the Basque and Spanish ciders entered at the fair. Only a handful of German and Austrian drinks scored higher than this Gipuzkoa cider house’s, which at previous events has taken the Gold Medal in Madrid and Silver in Norway.
