The cider season in Bizkaia will open next week with a star ambassador. Biscayan actress Itziar Lazkano is the new cider ambassador. We will soon be tasting this year’s cider.

The Bizkaia txotx will be held on 23 January, with cider made from 100% Bizkaia-grown apples. The new cider can be tasted at an event to be held at the Uxarte cider house in Amorebieta-Etxano.

But there is no txotx without ambassadors. This year they have an ambassador with a long career on and off the stage. The veteran Biscayan actress will take on the task of carrying the name of Bizkaia cider both nationally and internationally.

Lazkano is busy directing the young theatre company that this Friday, the 19th, premieres the play Egun zoragarriak in Basque and, on 26 January, the Spanish-language version, Días estupendos. “Despite having a lot of work and the play’s premiere just around the corner, I couldn’t turn down an offer like this. I’m delighted and it’s an honour,” said Itziar Lazkano.
