The international event brings together 4,600 exhibitors from 50 producing countries and is being held at the Paris Porte de Versailles exhibition centre. The fair presents itself as a key platform for promoting high-quality products, such as the wines, txakolis (Basque white wines) and ciders of the Basque Country, in international markets.
Amaia Barredo, the Basque Government’s Minister for Food, Rural Development, Agriculture and Fisheries, stressed in her speech that the fair is a “unique showcase” for positioning these products in new markets, thanks both to their excellent quality and to their competitive prices. Barredo also referred to the challenges facing the wine sector worldwide, mentioning changes in markets and in consumer habits. Despite these obstacles, she underlined that the sector cannot sit back and do nothing: it is essential to keep promoting Basque products to convince consumers of their quality and tradition.
The minister also highlighted that the wineries and cider houses of the Basque Country are backed by public policies that seek to “improve, facilitate and innovate” within the sector, with a focus on sustainability, efficiency and profitability. The joint participation of the Basque companies at the event has been organised by the Basque Department of Food, Rural Development, Agriculture and Fisheries, in collaboration with the Bilbao Chamber of Commerce and the Hazi Foundation.
With 50,000 visitors from 140 countries expected, the “Wine Paris 2025” fair is shaping up to be an excellent opportunity for Basque wine, txakoli and cider to keep expanding their international presence.
