Sagarmut, as its name suggests, is a nod to the Basque language, in which “sagarra” means apple. Although the product does not meet the technical requirements to be considered a vermouth (which must be wine-based), the drink aims to stand out for its unique character. This cider aperitif combines the freshness of apple with a very food-friendly touch, making it a perfect match for the classic Basque cider house menu.
Zapiain, known for its expertise in making natural cider, goes a step further by offering something different that celebrates tradition, but with a more contemporary approach. Sagarmut arrives to enrich the “txotx” experience (drinking cider straight from the cask) with a product that embraces innovation without losing the roots of Basque cider culture.
