The event, which combines the txotx tradition (drinking cider straight from the cask) with a charitable purpose, brought together many people from Tolosa and visitors keen to enjoy cider while supporting a good cause. During the day, those attending were able to taste cider freshly drawn from the casks while helping to raise funds for various local initiatives.

Now firmly established as one of the most eagerly awaited dates in the calendar, the event featured several cider houses from the area, which joined forces to offer their best products in exchange for a donation. As well as the cider tasting, there was live music, activities for children and the chance to enjoy traditional cider house menus, creating an atmosphere of celebration and cooperation.

The organisers have expressed their satisfaction at the excellent response to the event, pointing out that, as well as keeping the txotx tradition alive, activities of this kind channel the community’s solidarity towards important causes. This year the funds raised will go to local projects supporting the most vulnerable people in the area.

The return of the Txotx Solidario to Tolosa has shown once again how traditions can be a powerful tool for fostering social cohesion while enjoying the richness of Basque culture.
