The many cider lovers in Urola Erdia and the surrounding area had Errezil as their focal point on Saturday. The reason was none other than the Errezil Cider Championship, an event organised by Gaztetandik Kultur Elkartea in which local producers put their cider up for judgement, and which this year reached its tenth edition.

The competition began at 20.00 and, with it, a tasting that drew around 200 people this year. Between sips of this delicious apple product, those attending enjoyed various pintxos while awaiting the jury’s decision. Among those most eager to hear the verdict were the fifteen cider makers who took part in this year’s competition. All of them entered cider made in the village, which makes sense given Errezil’s close ties to apples.
