About Añota cider house

Añota cider house, in the Elosiaga neighbourhood of Azpeitia, is set in quiet and very beautiful surroundings. Founded in 1990, it extends the txotx season (when cider is drunk straight from the cask) from January to September thanks to the technology installed in its cellar. Forty per cent of its cider is made from its own apples, with the rest made up of apples from Galicia and Asturias. It currently produces close to 200,000 litres of cider a year.

Añota makes its Euskal Sagardoa with its own apples and those from nearby farmhouses; its orchards are farmed organically. It is the only cider house in the area with its own cider press.

Quality labels

  • DO Euskal Sagardoa Designation of origin for natural Basque cider: only apples of local varieties grown in Álava, Bizkaia, Gipuzkoa and the French Basque Country. The seal goes on each bottle, not on the cider maker.
