What it is like
Gamioxarrea, in Arizkun (Baztan), is a cider works dating from 1789 with a large Baroque wooden press, restored by local volunteers from the Jo ala Jo cultural group. The Eztibeltza cooperative, which runs the Larraldea cider house, organises guided tours: visitors meet at 11 am in Arizkun's square, go round the press while hearing the building's history, and finish with a tasting snack of cider, apple juice, cheeses, walnuts, apple sweet and bread. It lasts 75 to 90 minutes and costs €10 per adult; under-16s go free.
There are set dates spread through the year (in 2026, 6 December is still to come) and, outside them, tours can be arranged on any day for groups of more than 10, with the format adapted to age or occasion. Booking is always by phone. It can also be combined with a meal at the Larraldea cider house in Lekaroz; in that case, ask for the price and format.
