What it is like
Perkatzenea, in a 17th-century farmhouse in Madotz at the gateway to the Aralar range, shows its cider from the tree onwards: the tour takes in the apple orchards and the cellar, with its horizontal press and the seven temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks where the cider ferments. Along the way you hear how the local terrain shapes the apples and about the history of the house, taste the cider (including the fresh must it starts from) and finish with an aperitif.
It runs on Saturdays and Sundays at 11.30 am for groups of 10 to 20 people and costs €15 per person. It can be followed by the cider house menu. Book by phone or through the form on the website.
