About Perkatzenea cider house

Perkatzenea is a farmhouse in Madotz, in Larraun, at the foot of the Aralar range. Montse Armendariz and Joseba Rubio bought it in 2020, made their first cider in 2022 and opened the cider house in January 2025, with a dining room for around 80 people among wooden kupelas (barrels).

It is one of the five full-cycle cider houses in Navarre and belongs to Dolarea, the Navarre cider makers’ association: the apples come from their orchards in Sartaguda and from the trees they planted in Madotz, and the cider is pressed and fermented in their own cellar.

The menu is the classic cider house one, with chorizo in cider, salt cod omelette, cod ajoarriero and txuleta (T-bone steak), and cheese with quince and walnuts for dessert. At weekends groups can book a cellar visit with tasting; they sell bottled cider and apple juice, and take a mobile kupela to parties and weddings.
