What it is like
Uxarte, in the Montorra district of Amorebieta-Etxano, opens its cider house to show how it makes cider the traditional way, from the apple to the txotx (cider poured straight from the cask). For more than forty years Uxarte has been expanding its orchard, which now has some 25 varieties, mostly Basque (Errezilla, Goikoetxea, Moko, Txalaka and Geza Mina), and from them comes its natural cider under the Euskal Sagardoa designation of origin.
Tours start at 1.15 pm, from September to December and from May to August, and must be booked in advance by phone. The website does not give a price or duration.
