About Akarregi cider house
Although Akarregi cider house was already making cider in 1700, it changed hands in 2006. The current owners want to preserve the essence of a traditional cider house, and so they continue to make cider in the most traditional way.
It is a small-scale cider house: it bottles its Akarregi Euskal Sagardoa, which carries the Designation of Origin (DO), from apples grown at the Arraspiñe farmhouse in Astigarraga.
From tree to bottle
Akarregi’s own house cider
As well as a cider house, it’s a cider maker: it makes its own cider, and what’s served at the table comes from its own cellar.

Quality labels
- DO Euskal Sagardoa Designation of origin for natural Basque cider: only apples of local varieties grown in Álava, Bizkaia, Gipuzkoa and the French Basque Country. The seal goes on each bottle, not on the cider maker.
