About Itxas-Buru cider house
Itxas-Buru cider house was founded in 1982 by its owner, Ascensio Intxauspe. Although the family had always known the art of cider making, they only took it up professionally in the 1980s. Always favouring local apples, they have tried to give priority to their own. They currently produce around 50,000 litres of cider a year.
Itxas-Buru has been selling its cider since 1982; it works some eight hectares of orchard, its own and those of neighbouring farmhouses, and bottles under the Euskal Sagardoa Designation of Origin.

As well as a cider house, it’s a cider maker: it makes its own cider, and what’s served at the table comes from its own cellar.

Quality labels
- DO Euskal Sagardoa Designation of origin for natural Basque cider: only apples of local varieties grown in Álava, Bizkaia, Gipuzkoa and the French Basque Country. The seal goes on each bottle, not on the cider maker.
