About Zelaia cider house
A cider maker that has been making cider for three generations, using a traditional method refined over time. From January it opens its doors to everyone who loves good cider, giving them the chance to taste its finest and enjoy food that does justice to the txotx tradition (drinking cider straight from the cask), standing beside the kupelas (casks) in good company.
Zelaia makes cider under the Euskal Sagardoa Designation of Origin (DO), including premium and organic ciders, as well as PetNat sparkling ciders, fruit ciders and organic apple juice, which it sells through its online shop.
From tree to bottle
Zelaia’s own house cider
As well as a cider house, it’s a cider maker: it makes its own cider, and what’s served at the table comes from its own cellar.
Quality labels
- DO Euskal Sagardoa Designation of origin for natural Basque cider: only apples of local varieties grown in Álava, Bizkaia, Gipuzkoa and the French Basque Country. The seal goes on each bottle, not on the cider maker.
- Organic production Cider certified as organic by the body in its territory: Ekolurra, CPAEN, COPAE, CRAEGA or AB in the French Basque Country.
