About Zelaia Zaporetako Sagardoa
“Zaporetako sagardoa”, flavoured cider: that is what Zelaia calls its fruit cans, each with its Basque name on the label. Mangoa is the mango one; Basa fruitu – Lima, wild berries and lime; and Masusta gorria, raspberry. In all three, the Basque apple must ferments together with the fruit.
The mango one is tropical and very refreshing; the wild berries and lime, lively and acidic, with a citrus finish and a bitter touch; the raspberry, fruity and slightly lactic. They are cans to drink cold, without pouring from a height, with colourful labels unlike the house’s bottles. The cider makers’ association shop sells them by the can, all three at the same price.
