On Saturday 17 October Hernani held the first edition of its Sagardo Eguna: the Topa! Sagardo Eguna brought together Alberro, Altzueta, Goiko Lastola, Iparragirre, Itxas-buru, Olaizola, Rufino and Zelaia in the Plaza Berria, from 11:30 to 14:30, and some 320 glasses were sold.

Local cider and salt cod pintxos

The day closed Hernani’s 14th Salt Cod Week, so the cider did not come alone: six of the town’s bars served pintxos in the square, between kalejiras (street parades with music). The cider tasting cost €8, with €2 back when you returned the glass, and the pintxos €2.50 (six for €12).

It was organised by Hernani Town Council, Berriak, the town’s association of shops and bars, and Euskal Sagardoa, whose tents filled the covered square.

The Salt Cod Week awards

The week’s awards were also handed out in the square:

  • Professional jury: Joxe Mari Taberna.
  • Public: 1st Erriguarda, 2nd Guria and 3rd Txoko.

Will there be a second edition?

It is not yet confirmed, but the organisers intend to hold it every year. When there is a date, it will be in our calendar.
