About Araeta cider house
Araeta is a cider house where art meets gastronomy, with a focus on innovative, craft-produced apple and pear ciders. It is a restaurant rooted in traditional Basque cooking but with an innovative touch, specialising in chargrilled meat and fish.
Surrounded by gardens and terraces, it is a place for memorable moments, with wine and cider tastings, cookery workshops and all kinds of activities and music events, organised every season for all audiences.
Araeta makes its ciders with apples from its own orchard in Zubieta, including one under the Euskal Sagardoa Designation of Origin (DO), and also makes perry.
From tree to bottle
Araeta’s own house cider
As well as a cider house, it’s a cider maker: it makes its own cider, and what’s served at the table comes from its own cellar.
Quality labels
- DO Euskal Sagardoa Designation of origin for natural Basque cider: only apples of local varieties grown in Álava, Bizkaia, Gipuzkoa and the French Basque Country. The seal goes on each bottle, not on the cider maker.
- Eusko Label Basque Government quality label for agri-food products made in the Basque Country under a monitored set of specifications.
