About Rabiosa
Rabiosa is the project of a fruit-growing family from A Estrada (Pontevedra) who have been growing apples for several generations in the parishes of Callobre and Pardemarín. It takes its name from the Rabiosa, a native cider apple variety that originated in Callobre, and is now run by the youngest generation of the family. The craft cider house and the production facilities are in Pardemarín, in the grandfather’s old house.
On the A Sobreira estate they grow varieties such as Ernestina, Durona, Coloradona, De la Riega, Regona, Raxao, Clara and the Rabiosa itself, with production certified organic by CRAEGA. As well as organic natural cider they make apple vinegar and apple gin, and the estate includes a “campus da mazá” (apple campus) where they try out new varieties and grafts.
The cider house can be visited by appointment, with a tasting of local products, and can be hired for meetings or tastings for 4 to 16 people. They also organise group activities, such as walks among the apple trees at different times of year (pruning, blossom, harvest), and offer apple tree adoption. Rabiosa is one of the cider houses on the Ruta da Sidra da Estrada.
