History and atmosphere

About Valleoscuru

Valleoscuru is a rural hotel with its own llagar (cider mill) in Tresgrandas, in the municipality of Llanes. The family planted their first hectare of apple trees in 1998, opened the hotel at the end of 1999 and for some years made cider by hand on the ground floor of the building. In 2005 they built a new llagar next to the hotel, with a press, a bottling machine and fibreglass and stainless steel tanks.

Around 2010 they converted their orchards to organic farming and had the llagar certified, and they present their cider as the first organic cider from eastern Asturias. Today they make around 5,000 litres a year of organic natural cider under the Valleoscuru brand, as well as organic cider vinegar; several of their orchards are registered with the Regulatory Council of the Sidra de Asturias Protected Designation of Origin (PDO).

Guests can visit the llagar and taste the cider, and on certain dates the hotel organises activities linked to the apple cycle, such as walks during the blossom, bottling in March or cider making in the autumn. The cider and other house products are sold in its online shop, with delivery to mainland Spain.
