About Tximista cider house
The Tximista cider house, with more than 30 years of experience, is right in the centre of Ordizia. From the fruit of its own apple trees, topped up with apples from other orchards in Gipuzkoa, it makes a fine cider that can be enjoyed straight from the cask at txotx or from the bottle.
It has two areas seating 140 people in total, where the kupelas (casks) stand: 5 wooden and 8 stainless steel. Tximista is open all year round, serving lunch every day and dinner on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Being right in the centre of Ordizia, it is an excellent choice if you are coming by public transport, as it is also very close to the RENFE railway station, where parking is available too.
For the curious: the tolare (cider press) and the rest of the cider-making machinery can be seen from the dining room.
For the last few seasons Tximista has been making its own cider under the Euskal Sagardoa Designation of Origin (DO), with apples from orchards in Askizu, Antzuola, Ataun and Ezkio. It offers guided tours with a tasting of cider and Idiazabal cheese.
Specialities
Traditional txotx menu with home-made desserts, plus special menus and à la carte dishes all year round. Bean stews with chargrilled T-bone steak.

Tximista’s own house cider
As well as a cider house, it’s a cider maker: it makes its own cider, and what’s served at the table comes from its own cellar.
Quality labels
- DO Euskal Sagardoa Designation of origin for natural Basque cider: only apples of local varieties grown in Álava, Bizkaia, Gipuzkoa and the French Basque Country. The seal goes on each bottle, not on the cider maker.
