About Casa Cortina
Casa Cortina is the cider bar and restaurant of the Sidra Cortina family in Amandi, on the outskirts of Villaviciosa, a few metres from the family’s llagar (cider mill). It serves natural cider from its own llagar alongside traditional Asturian cooking: maize tortos (fried flatbreads) with picadillo (spiced minced meat), fabada (bean stew), cachopo (breaded steak stuffed with ham and cheese) made with Asturian veal, fish of the day, grilled meats and rice dishes, with many dishes suitable for coeliacs. From Tuesday to Friday it offers a set menu of the day.
The restaurant, with around 140 covers, has two covered terraces, gardens, a children’s play area and a large car park, as well as a banqueting hall. It closes on Sunday evenings and Mondays, and has holiday closures in February and November.
At the nearby Llagar de la Ferrería, Sidra Cortina runs guided tours by prior booking: a video at the visitor centre, a tour of the llagar, a culín (small pour of cider) drawn straight from the barrel, and a tasting of Asturian cheeses from the Comarca de la Sidra. Casa Cortina is a member of the “Sidrerías de Asturias, Calidad Natural” brand.
