About Sidra Riestra
Sidra Riestra is a family-run llagar (cider mill) in the Perea neighbourhood of Sariego, within the Comarca de la Sidra. It dates back to 1906, when Robustiano Riestra built a beam-press llagar in Santa Olaya de Baldornón (Gijón) and began selling cider under the family name. In 1929 his daughter Etelvina and son-in-law Ricardo Riestra moved the business to Sariego; a new cellar was built in 1947, and since 1985 the company has passed through two more generations of the family.
The cellar combines chestnut barrels with stainless steel tanks and states a capacity of close to one million litres. As well as Riestra natural cider and Ribayu natural cider, since 2012 it has made the sparkling Guzmán Riestra by the traditional method, with a second fermentation in the bottle, in brut nature and semi-dry versions, and an ice cider in 37.5 cl bottles.
The llagar’s website publishes a price list by the case and a form for requesting orders, which the company then confirms by contacting the customer directly.
