About Saraberri cider house
Saraberri is the former Sarasola cider house, which, with more than a hundred years of history, is one of the oldest in Astigarraga. In 2023 Agustin Etxeberria, the founders’ nephew, revived it under the name Saraberri to keep the family tradition of natural cider alive.
The cider is made at the family farmhouse following the traditional process, mostly with apples from its own trees; the old website mentioned some 60,000 litres a year. It is served at txotx (straight from the cask) from January to April and sold bottled the rest of the year. According to the house, its cider has once won the Basque Country cider championship.
Specialities
Cider house menu with chorizo cooked in cider, salt cod omelette, fried salt cod with peppers, wood-grilled T-bone steak (txuleta) and cheese with walnuts and apple paste; also menus with spare ribs and, to order, with spider crab, lamb or suckling pig.

From tree to bottle
Saraberri’s own house cider
As well as a cider house, it’s a cider maker: it makes its own cider, and what’s served at the table comes from its own cellar.
