About Casa Niembro
Casa Niembro is a farmhouse chigre (traditional Asturian cider tavern) and restaurant in Asiegu, in the municipality of Cabrales. It is a member of the “Sidrerías de Asturias, Calidad Natural” brand and is the cider bar of the family that runs the Ruta’l Quesu y la Sidra and Llagar Sidra Pamirandi, a small llagar (cider mill) in the same village that Turismo Asturias lists among the cider mills open to visitors.
As a chigre, it serves cider poured from height and tapas; as a restaurant, a menu based on local produce and entirely gluten-free: Cabrales and other artisan Asturian cheeses, corderu xaldu (lamb of the native Xalda breed), kid and veal from local farmers, and vegetables from a nearby organic farm. The house cider is Pamirandi, made with apples from eastern Asturias and from its own orchards.
Its specialities include tortos (fried maize flatbreads) with picadillo (spiced minced meat), corderu xaldu in cider, Cabrales torcu and frixuelo (Asturian crêpe) cake. The Ruta’l Quesu y la Sidra tour ends with a meal at the house.
