About Uxarte Euskal Sagardoa

Uxarte’s natural cider, made the traditional way on the family farmhouse in Zornotza (Amorebieta-Etxano). It is a house blend of sharp, sweet and bitter apples, all of Basque varieties, from its own orchard and from nearby farms. It carries the Euskal Sagardoa PDO: 100 % local apples.

Part of each harvest is drunk from the txotx at the cider house and part is bottled. The label, with a drawing of the farmhouse, reads “bertoko sagardoa” (local cider): a 75 cl bottle at 6 % ABV.

Its quality labels

  • DO Euskal Sagardoa Designation of origin for natural Basque cider: only local apples from registered orchards in Álava, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa, not pasteurised and with no added gas. The French Basque Country joins through the cross-border PDO, pending in the EU. The seal goes on each bottle, not on the cider maker.
