What it is like
The tour starts at the door of the Lizeaga family farmhouse in Martutene and covers the family’s history, the role of the River Urumea, the apple orchard and its varieties, and how their Euskal Sagardoa cider is made. With a house aperitif, several ciders are tasted in two ways, from the barrel and from the bottle, and it ends at the table with the cider house menu: salt cod omelette, fried salt cod with peppers, T-bone steak, and cheese with quince and walnuts.
It lasts about three hours and runs all year round on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 12.30 pm, in Basque, Spanish, English or French. It costs 60 euros for adults, 50 for young people aged 14 to 17 and 28 for children aged 4 to 13; with transport included it is 83, 73 and 55 euros, and four hours. Payment is made when booking.
