About Finca Gallinal
Finca Gallinal is a cider-apple farm run by the Exner family in Gallinal, in the countryside of Gijón, with plots in Llanera too. According to its website, it covers some 40 hectares with 22,000 apple trees of 45 varieties: 28 of those accepted by the Sidra de Asturias PDO and 17 international demonstration varieties. Its main business is apples, sold to cider makers; it also advises people who want to plant and opens the farm to visitors.
With its own acidic apples, the family launched Exner cider at the end of 2019. It is marketed by Gallinal Drinks and made at Llagar Castañón: 100% fermented apple juice, not from concentrate, gluten-free, in a 33 cl bottle in the style of craft beers. At the 16th SISGA (2026), Exner Craft Cider won a Premium award for semi-dry sparkling cider with added carbonation.
