History and atmosphere

About Llagar Herminio

Llagar Herminio was founded in 1943 in Colloto, about four kilometres from the centre of Oviedo and well served by public transport. It is a llagar (cider mill) certified by the Sidra de Asturias PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) that makes two brands of natural cider, Herminio and Zythos (the latter with PDO status), both award winners at several cider competitions, and it is one of the llagares open to visitors listed by Turismo Asturias.

Next to the llagar there is a cider bar (sidrería) and restaurant with a daily and weekend set menu, espichas (Asturian cider feasts with cider drawn straight from the barrel) and celebrations. It opens from Wednesday to Sunday and closes on Monday afternoons and Tuesdays.

The llagar offers guided tours by prior booking, explaining how the cider is made and including a tasting straight from the barrel; there is also a tour option with a special menu in the cider bar. The house ciders can be bought from its online shop.
