About Sidra J. Tomás
Sidra J. Tomás is a family-run llagar (cider mill) in Candanal, in the municipality of Villaviciosa. José Tomás Poladura began making cider in 1952 under the Tomás brand, which for decades was served only in the family bar; in 1993 it went on sale as J. Tomás. Most of its output is sold in Asturias.
The llagar has an area for receiving, washing and sorting apples, three hydraulic presses, fibreglass tanks and traditional wooden barrels, as well as its own washing, bottling and labelling line. Since 2004 it has also made Molín del Medio cider and, more recently, a black-label J. Tomás with Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) status.
It is among the producers certified by the Sidra de Asturias PDO. Its website offers cases of 6 and 12 bottles of its brands; orders are placed by phone or email.
