About Joanes de Zapiain
A single-plot cider from Zapiain, with the Euskal Sagardoa Designation of Origin: all the apples come from one orchard in Tolosa and are of local varieties. The name honours Joanes de Zapiain, a family ancestor who was already making cider in the 16th century.
It comes in a 75 cl bottle, sold singly or in a case of 6. Coming from a single plot, it is a cider to taste slowly and compare with the house’s blended cider.

Its quality labels
- DO Euskal Sagardoa Designation of origin for natural Basque cider: only local apples from registered orchards in Álava, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa, not pasteurised and with no added gas. The French Basque Country joins through the cross-border PDO, pending in the EU. The seal goes on each bottle, not on the cider maker.
