What it is like
The morning starts on the bay of Pasaia, at Albaola, the shipyard, museum and school where a replica of the San Juan, the 16th-century Basque whaling ship, is being built: free entry and a half-hour guided visit to the ship (times depend on the language). At 13:30 the day continues at Aburuza, in Aduna, with a cellar tour that goes into areas not usually shown, an explanation of how the cider is made and the cider house menu with txotx (cider poured straight from the cask); vegetarian and vegan menus are also available.
Travelling on your own, on Saturdays, it takes about five hours and costs €61 per adult (€56 for ages 14 to 17 and €49 for ages 4 to 13). With transport from San Sebastián it runs on Fridays, from 10:30 to 16:30, for €93. It is offered in Basque, Spanish, English or French.
