What it is like

Gurutzeta’s cider maker welcomes the group at the cider house in Ergobia, Astigarraga, and for about half an hour explains how cider is made, how it has changed over time and how to taste it, while showing the facilities and telling the story of the family and the farmhouse. The tasting comes with a house aperitif.

Then it’s time for the table: the classic cider house menu (salt cod omelette, fried salt cod, chargrilled T-bone steak, and cheese with quince and walnuts) with txotx, the ritual of filling your glass straight from the cask, for about two hours. It is for groups of at least ten people, all year round from Monday to Saturday at 1.30 pm, and can be done in Basque, Spanish, English or French. Sagardoa.eus lists it at 56 euros per adult.
