About Astarbe Haritza
Haritza (Basque for “oak”) is Astarbe’s natural cider which, after fermenting in stainless steel tanks and in kupelas (large wooden casks), spends at least six months in contact with oak and is bottled unfiltered. It uses apples from the farm and from Usurbil, Villabona, Oiartzun and Zarautz, with the Astarbe, Mendiola, Moko, Txalaka and Goikoetxe varieties among others, and no gas or sugar is added.
The wood gives it body and spicy aromas; it is dry, with balanced acidity and bitterness and a long finish. It is 6.5% ABV, and the cellar recommends it in a wine glass or thin tumbler at 10-12 °C, alongside food.
