About Petritegi Monovarietal Alai
A single-variety cider from Txalaka, a sharp, fresh apple, with the Euskal Sagardoa Designation of Origin. The variety is picked separately when ripe, in the orchards of nearby growers, and is also made separately; the cider is left on its lees, without racking. 6 % ABV.
Alai means “cheerful” in Basque. It smells of white fruit, apple and pear, and acidity leads on the palate. A good bottle to compare with Petritegi’s other single-variety ciders and see what each apple brings to the blended cider.

Its quality labels
- DO Euskal Sagardoa Designation of origin for natural Basque cider: only local apples from registered orchards in Álava, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa, not pasteurised and with no added gas. The French Basque Country joins through the cross-border PDO, pending in the EU. The seal goes on each bottle, not on the cider maker.
