About Petritegi D.O. Euskal Sagardoa

Petritegi’s cider with the Euskal Sagardoa Designation of Origin: only Basque Country apples, of native varieties and early harvest. It is fermented with the house’s own yeast taken from the Urtebi Haundi apple, which according to Petritegi brings out aromas of fresh fruit and green apple. 6 % ABV, unfiltered.

It is served like the Gorenak: cool (10–13 °C), shaken before opening and poured with the cap from about 30 cm. It won gold at the Sagardo Forum in 2019 and 2025.

Its quality labels

  • DO Euskal Sagardoa Designation of origin for natural Basque cider: only local apples from registered orchards in Álava, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa, not pasteurised and with no added gas. The French Basque Country joins through the cross-border PDO, pending in the EU. The seal goes on each bottle, not on the cider maker.
