About Saizar cider house
A welcoming place to enjoy a rib steak (txuleta) with a natural cider full of character, thanks to a careful selection of the best apples. True to tradition. Saizar’s cider holds the Eusko Label quality certificate.
The Saizar cider house is defined by tradition, handed down from generation to generation. It has become one of the largest-producing cider houses, with very substantial investment in technology, yet its large dining room keeps the essence of tradition. It currently produces around 1,100,000 litres of cider a year and complements this with a wider range of products.
Saizar makes cider under the Euskal Sagardoa Designation of Origin (DO), mostly with apples from its own orchards in Usurbil, as well as cider brandy and apple vinegar. It sells through its online shop and runs guided tours.

As well as a cider house, it’s a cider maker: it makes its own cider, and what’s served at the table comes from its own cellar.
Quality labels
- DO Euskal Sagardoa Designation of origin for natural Basque cider: only apples of local varieties grown in Álava, Bizkaia, Gipuzkoa and the French Basque Country. The seal goes on each bottle, not on the cider maker.
- Gorenak Quality mark of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa for agri-food products from Gipuzkoa.
